Following Tuesday’s school shooting incident at McNair Discovery Learning Academy, state officials are asking those in charge of Georgia’s youngest children to make sure they’re prepared in case of a similar incident.
The Georgia Department of Early Care and Learning is reminding thousands of Georgia child care centers and Pre-K programs about department policies when it comes to emergencies. Those policies include: monthly fire drills, having an evacuation plan and regular drills for tornadoes and emergency situations. Reg Griffin is a spokesman for the department.
“I think every child care provider in Georgia anytime something like this happens needs to stop and take very serious look at their location.”
