Sen. Johnny Isakson: Obamacare Tax Day

Your Washington Desk:

Isak

From Senator Johnny Isakson:

Dear Friends,

We are all aware of the irony of President Obama repeatedly promising that Obamacarewouldn’t tax middle-class Americans, only to have the U.S. Supreme Court rule in June 2012 that Obamacare is indeed a tax on the American people.

Now, in further irony, the administration extended the date to enroll in this monstrosity to April 15, 2014, the same day as Americans are required to file their taxes!

And next year at this time, the individual mandate tax of Obamacare will appear on filers’ tax returns and will be higher than many expect. There are a dozen Obamacare tax hikes that will hit the very middle-class families the president promised to protect!

When those taxes start showing up on Tax Day next year, Democrats will no longer be able to hide the truth –

Obamacare taxes you if you have health insurance, and it taxes you if you don’t.

And which agency is in charge of tracking and penalizing those who fail to buy approved health insurance? The IRS.

It’s clear to you and me that this law is not working. As you know, I have voted more than 50 times to kill, repeal, replace or dismantle this terrible law. I cannot be a part of driving Americans to a health care system that raises taxes, increases premiums, cuts benefits for seniors and places a massive unfunded mandate on the states.

I will fight this law for as long as it takes. I will continue to call for a full repeal of this terribly-flawed health care law and will work to find solutions for ways to provide access and affordable health care to individuals who lack access to health insurance.

Sincerely,
Senator Isakson's Signature
Johnny Isakson
