From hair salons to art supply shops, Savannah businesses count the days each year until “harvest time” — the start of fall classes at SCAD and the influx of business it brings.
“We probably see five-10 more people a day,” said Nikki Edwards, stylist and owner of Colorboxx, a salon with one location on Broughton Street and one in Pooler. “It gets busy. Downtown with SCAD we have parents, professors and students come in.”
The Savannah College of Art and Design puts the dollar figure on its regional impact at $386 million in economic output for fiscal year 2012.
