Savannah Daily News: Martin Sullivan Jr 27 Announces Run for Open State Rep Seat

Aug. 6, 2013 –Savannah resident and conservative Martin R. Sullivan Jr. (R) will formally launch his campaign for the Georgia State House of Representatives, Thursday Aug. 8, at Lake Mayer at 11 a.m. He is running for the District 166 seat currently held by state Rep. Ben Watson who is vacating it to run for the State Senate.

Sullivan, who is 27, states that he believes he “represents a new generation of conservative Georgians who are ready to lead,” and if elected, he will be one of the youngest members in the Georgia General Assembly.

For the past three years, he was a full-time employee on the staff of Agriculture Commissioner Gary Black, Georgia’s first Republican to hold the office since Reconstruction, serving as a policy advisor. Martin had previously served nine months as Black’s political director of his election campaign.

During his tenure with the Commissioner, he helped implement zero based budgeting, pushed for repeal of burdensome regulations, and helped launch the Georgia Agriculture Tax Exemption Program, a measure designed to create jobs and grow the economy, according to Sullivan.
