CANTON – In the city of Canton, there will be run-off elections for Ward I and Ward III, while candidate Bill Grant handily won the election with 64 percent of the vote to fill Bill Bryan’s seat. Grant tallied 64.16 percent of the vote, while candidate Ari Durham garnered 35.84 percent.
“I am extremely honored that the voters of Canton choose me to represent Ward II on Canton City Council. I look forward to taking office on Jan. 2 and working with Canton’s citizens and business owners to create the Canton we all want,” Grant said.
Sandy McGrew and Clint Weatherby will face off in the December runoff to fill the seat currently held by Bob Rush. The three-person race ended Nov. 5 with no one garnering the needed majority votes.
“I thank my opponents for being gracious and civil gentlemen through the entire campaign. I will remain positive through the run-off campaign, as well,” McGrew said. “I would like for the voters to know that, if elected, I will make being a City Council member my full-time job, working for them and the good of the city.”
McGrew earned 49.22 percent of the vote, while Weatherby earned 34.73 percent. Bob Reilly earned 16.05 percent of the vote.
