A set of 130 new laws have gone into effect in Georgia as the 2014 fiscal year begins.
The new fiscal year began Monday, as did a crackdown on repeat DUI offenders. The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports repeat offenders will now be ordered to give breath samples in order to start their cars for 12 months instead of eight, which was required under the state’s old laws.
New regulations on the state’s HOPE grants have also gone into effect allowing technical college students with a minimum 2.0 grade point average to qualify for grant funding.
