Don’t look for any kind of comprehensive immigration reform legislation to come out of the 113th Congress in Washington, U.S. Rep. Phil Gingrey told the Rome Rotary Club on Thursday.
The Marietta Republican, who represented Floyd County until this year, said there’s no way he could support legislation that includes anything resembling amnesty for illegal immigrants.
Gingrey is one of a crowded field of Republicans — including Reps. Paul Broun and Jack Kingston, Karen Handel, David Perdue and Eugene Yu — seeking to replace U.S. Sen. Saxby Chambliss in the 2014 election.
