RN-T.com – Floyd BOE proposes to extend McDaniel s contract build incentives for reducing furloughs

Floyd County Schools Superintendent Jeff McDaniel is getting a one-year extension of his contract, through June 30, 2016, after his annual evaluation by the school board Thursday morning.

David Johnson, chairman of the Floyd County Board of Education, said the board is expected to vote on the new contract at its Tuesday meeting.

“I think he’s done a tremendous job,” Johnson said. “He’s had a lot of difficult decisions to deal with.”

Johnson said the extension will come without any increase in compensation, but he expects the package — which is still being massaged — will include incentives tied to reducing or eliminating furlough days for Floyd County teachers and school system staff.
