Voters in Rome and Cave Spring could have municipal races to settle on Nov. 5, when voters countywide are expected to say yea or nay to two sales tax referendums.

Three Rome City Commission spots and all seven seats on the Rome Board of Education are up for election this year, as well as three of the five Cave Spring City Council posts. Countywide referendums for a new 1-cent special purpose, local option sales tax and a continuation of the education local option sales tax will likely be on the ballot as well.

Qualifying for public office isn’t until late August, but elected officials are still required to submit campaign finance reports to the state throughout the year.

The most recent report was due June 30. Any official who has not filed a report by today could face a $375 fine.
