Developers hoping to make their mark on the City of Holly Springs might have to jump through a few more hoops, after the planning and zoning commission agreed that some applicants should host public information meetings prior to submitting applications to the city.

The Holly Springs Planning and Zoning Commission began discussing a proposed text amendment to the city’s zoning procedures in November. It voted, 5-0, on Dec. 19 to require applicants seeking to rezone property or acquire a conditional use permit to host a public information meeting when the proposed development or use would highly impact a certain area.

“Prior to holding a public information meeting, the applicant will meet with the community development department and we will determine if it is something significant enough to require the meeting,” Community Development Director Nancy Moon said.
