Todd Rehm, a Republican political consultant and pollster in Atlanta, said national forecasts rarely take into account what’s happening on the ground or statewide, which could skew results.

For example, Rehm said the Senate Race between Repub­lican David Perdue and Dem­ocrat Michelle Nunn has had four public polls taken in the past month. He said he isn’t aware of any in the Barrow-Allen race.

“At the end of the day, in Georgia’s 12th Congressional District, it is imperative to take The Washington Post’s model or any other model with a grain of salt,” said Rehm, the editor of GaPundit.com, a newsletter that focuses on Republican politics, state and local government, and elections. “John Barrow has shown a particular gift for confounding the expectations of pollsters and analysts. He has more lives than any herd of cats I have ever seen.”
