President Barack Obama’s approval rating may also prove an issue for Ms. Dunn. Mr. Obama’s favorable rating is at 43%, compared with 54% who said they don’t approve.
But the candidate is likely to benefit from her family name – Ms. Nunn is the daughter of former Sen. Sam Nunn (D., Ga.), who posts a favorability rating of 56%, according to the survey by PPP, a Democratic-leaning firm.
The National Republican Senatorial Committee has already taken on any boost Ms. Nunn may receive from her father’s reputation. “It takes more than just family ties to get elected to the Senate, and we look forward to a robust debate about the Obama/Nunn agenda and the ramifications that it has on middle-class families and women in Georgia,” said communications director Brad Dayspring in a statement after Ms. Nunn announced her campaign.
