The only emergency room in Peach County will close down for six hours Tuesday morning as hospital staff move to a new location nine miles away.
The ER at Peach Regional Medical Center in Fort Valley will stop accepting patients at 6 AM. The ER at the re-named Medical Center of Peach County in Byron will open its doors at noon.
In between, hospital staff will move patients and equipment. “We’ve got it very strategically planned out,” said Chief Nursing Officer Michelle McLure. “Three ambulances will be there and we’ll move each patient, three at a time.” There are currently 10 patients in the ER, she said, but that number varies from day to day.
