A Georgia man faces a felony charge of illegally possessing an alligator after Alabama conservation officers recently arrested him in Eufaula.
Alabama Conservation Enforcement Officer Joey Richardson said he arrested Kevin Davis, 24, of Georgetown, Ga., on Monday, and charged him with felony taking or possessing an alligator.
Davis was taken to the Barbour County Jail and held on $5,000 bail.
Richardson said the charge stemmed from Eufaula police receiving a report of someone with an alligator in the back of their pickup truck at a local apartment complex.
Richardson said they believe Davis had the alligator for about eight hours at the time of his arrest around 11 a.m. Monday.
Richardson described the alligator as a three foot albino. The alligator was released back into Lake Eufaula within an hour of officers finding it. He called the alligator quite rare.
