The Humane Society of Greater Savannah is one of 50 participants in the nationwide ASPCA $100K Rachael Ray Challenge. To stay in the running, the nonprofit has to adopt out 300 more pets between June 1 and Aug. 31 than it did in the same three-month period last year.
That gives it a goal of 787 animals to be adopted.
To jumpstart that process, the shelter at 7215 Sallie Mood Drive is waiving adoption fees from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and giving adopters a blow-up pool as part of its luau-themed kickoff party.
