U.S. Rep. Paul Broun has reintroduced his solution for health care, a bill just 3 percent the size of the so-called Obamacare plan.

Broun, a doctor, spoke on the House floor about his proposed Patient OPTION (Offering Patients True Individualized Options Now) Act. The proposal would repeal the current health care law and replace it with “market-based” reform.

“The Patient OPTION Act is the solution Americans deserve and need. This bill will make healthcare cheaper for everyone, make coverage accessible for all Americans, and save Medicare from going broke,” Broun said. “It is the only health care bill that allows patients to have full control of their healthcare — even once they’re on Medicare — and fully removes government from the doctor-patient relationship. Unlike Obama’s 2,700 page regulatory nightmare, the Patient OPTION provides clear, concise, patient-centered solutions in just 77 pages.”

The proposal would make all health care expenses, including insurance, 100 percent deductible, increase contribution limits and reform Health Savings Accounts, allow businesses to band together to negotiate lower cost health plans, give doctors tax incentives to treat indigent care patients and more.

“The American people have made it clear that they want a do-over on Obamacare, however, time is running short, and we must work diligently to repeal and replace this disastrous law before it goes into full effect,” Broun said. “I urge my colleagues to immediately pass the Patient OPTION Act, so we can provide the American people with solutions that actually lower costs, deliver care and empower American families when it comes to making choices about health care.”

Broun represents the 10th District, which includes eastern Gwinnett, and he is in the hunt for the Republican nomination for the U.S. Senate next year.

But he isn’t the only doctor in the race, with Dr. Branko Radulovacki seeking the Democratic nomination and fellow Congressman Phil Gingrey on the GOP side.
