Gwinnett Daily Post | Pardons and Paroles Board schedules event for victims

LAWRENCEVILLE — Victims in cases brought before the state Board of Pardons and Paroles have been invited to a Victims Visitors’ Day in Lawrenceville to meet with staff and discuss the status of offenders.

The event is scheduled for 9 a.m. on Thursday, and is in collaboration with the Gwinnett County Victim Witness Assistance Program. Victims of crime are invited to meet with members of the Parole Board and staff. It will be held at the Gwinnett Justice and Administration Center at 75 Langley Drive in Lawrenceville.

Board Chairman Albert Murray said the day is designed as an opportunity for crime victims to inform board members and staff about the crime’s impact on their lives, and it’s one aspect of the job of a board member who decides cases.

“We find these events extremely valuable because we’re able to assist Georgia crime victims who never asked to become a part of the criminal justice system,” Murray said. “We look forward to this opportunity to hear information about these cases that we may not have.”
