Gwinnett Daily Post | Dove season opens on Saturday

The unofficial start to fall hunting season kicks off at noon on Saturday when dove season opens.

Georgia Department of Natural Resources officials said there are several Wildlife Management Area hunts scheduled, and many public dove fields are reserved solely for quota hunts on opening day.

“Many WMAs provide fields managed specifically for dove so there is no lack of opportunity for desired locations,” John Bowers, chief of game management, said in a press release. “Opening day typically is fun-filled, as many hunts involve cookouts and lots of activity, making it a great time to introduce family and friends to hunting.”
