A Villa Rica man learned an important, if rather obvious, lesson this past week: Don’t steal doughnuts. And definitely don’t steal doughnuts in front of the police.
Villa Rica Police Chief Michael Mansour and a group of detectives were eating lunch at Subway on Liberty Road on Sept. 20 when a woman from the nearby Wilco truck stop walked in. She said the store had a problem with a doughnut thief, and the suspect was walking back in the door of the truck stop at that moment.
Irony or what?
Mansour got a kick out of the situation, and agreed to help.
“She said this guy has a tendency not to pay for his doughnuts,” he said. “She told us he’ll pay for his gas but steal the doughnuts. I said I’d walk over when I got done eating.”
