Georgia Adoptable Dogs for March 27, 2013

CoastalDolly Dolly is a Corgi/Jack Russell mix who is available for adoption from Coastal Pet Rescue in Savannah, Ga.  This sweet girl never meets a stranger. She plays well with kids but doesnt realize her size, so she tends to want to lay on or crawl over them. She gets along well with cats and smaller dogs. Dolly loves to play fetch and tug-o-war, is obedience trained, and can even dance! She is housebroken and crate trained.

zydaco1Zydaco and her three siblings are recovering from mistreatment and neglect. Nola, Orleans, Shiloh and Zydaco are about 5 weeks old and thought to be Lab, possibly Corgi mixed puppies who will be available for adoption from Coastal Pet Rescue in Savannah. They were in terrible health when they arrived, having not been properly nursed or cared for since birth. They are being bottle fed by a foster parent for the next week as we work to get them on to canned food.

The puppies have had their first dewormings. They may be ready to go in about four weeks, though due to their malnourishment, may need to stay in CPR’s care a little longer. Families interested in adopting may apply now, and once approved, may put a 50% deposit down to hold them for adoption. Coastal Pet Rescue will not release the puppies until the vet determines them healthy enough to be sent to new homes.

Johnny Sprocket is a Great Dane/black Lab mix who weighs more than 75 pounds and is available for adoption from Coastal Pet Rescue in Savannah.

Johnny’s luckiest day came when he was dumped out at a rescuer’s house. He was full of all types of parasites, infections, fleas and turned out to be heartworm positive. Through collaborative effort with the H.O.P.E. group in Effingham, Johnny was taken in to foster care with Coastal Pet Rescue.

Johnny is very friendly with kids and other dogs. He is very well behaved as a house dog and seems to get tired faster after a good bit of play.

Update from foster home 1/24/13:
He loves his toys and amazingly does not destroy them. I think he will need a family preferably in the country with other dogs because he is so large and loves the company of other dogs and space but not on his own. He is even nice to cats. One walked up to him and they sniffed each other. When someone is in the house, he wants to be close by. He does not like to be by himself although by now he is used to sleeping in the kitchen away from us.
