GAGOP: CARTER, NUNN, OBAMA JUST DON’T GET IT

(Atlanta, GA) – In an interview with MSNBC’s Thomas Roberts, liberal gubernatorial candidate Jason Carter called Obamacare a “mess” citing the lack of a state-run exchange in Georgia as a contributing factor to the failed healthcare reform initiative. In response to Sen. Carter’s ignorance, the Georgia Republican Party issued the following statements:

“Jason Carter, Michelle Nunn, and President Barack Obama just don’t get it. The American people don’t want another ‘fix’ to Obamacare, they want the law repealed and replaced with a market-friendly alternative that actually provides better, more accessible, affordable healthcare.

“Contrary to Senator Carter’s flawed assumptions, state-run healthcare exchanges are not the key to success for the implementation of Obamacare. In fact, in states where state officials – rather than the federal government – administer the healthcare exchange, the results have been just as deplorable.

According to a piece published in Forbes by Sam Cappellanti, a health care policy analyst at the American Action Forum, “the choice of who administers a state’s exchange system appears to have had an insignificant impact on premium prices…regardless of a state’s choice of exchange, consumers suffer.”

“Rather than point the finger at lawmakers who rejected the implementation of state-run healthcare exchanges in their own state, liberals like Sen. Carter should blame President Obama and the Democratic Party for forcing a law that was doomed to fail down the throats of the American people.

“We applaud Governor Deal and Insurance Commissioner Ralph Hudgens for standing up to President Obama and his liberal cronies in Washington. Gov. Deal and Commissioner Hudgens are leading while President Obama, Sen. Carter, and Michelle Nunn make excuses.”
