GRIFFIN, Ga. – A Georgia veteran has lost his fight to fly two flags outside his home. Captain Jim Lowe was battling to fly both the American flag and the Marine Corps colors at his Griffin home. Now, Lowe says he and his wife have no choice but to pack up and move.
The issue was put to a vote at Lowe’s retirement community, and though nearly half of the residents who voted backed Lowe’s display, it didn’t meet the community’s standards.
FOX 5 has received emails from people across the country about Lowe, and whether or not he should be allowed to fly both flags. The vast majority of those who commented said he should be allowed to let them fly, but on Monday, he got word that one of the flags must come down.
“When a bunch of arbitrary rules trump the Constitution, it’s a sad date because indeed a piece of America is lost,” Lowe said after the decision was made.
