Georgia Democrats “Can’t Have it Both Ways”

In 2010, the Editorial Board of the Augusta Chronicle penned that Democratic Congressman John Barrow is “perhaps the most shameless, duplicitous, self-serving politician of his era.”

Well, that was before they met Michelle Nunn and Jason Carter.

From baseless attacks on their opponents to regurgitated, fact-ridden rhetoric, Carter, Nunn, and Barrow know that the only way to win in Georgia is by misleading voters and playing both sides.

Despite voting with President Barack Obama 85% of the time, John Barrow still fancies himself as a common sense moderate who puts the people, not politics, first.

He claims to be against the president’s signature healthcare legislation but voted 27 times against repealing, defunding or delaying Obamacare. Barrow’s rhetoric and his record just don’t line up.

The National Journal leaked a 144-page strategy memo revealed Michelle Nunn’s intentions to dupe voters with buzzwords and photo-ops. She’s happily accepted ten thousand dollars from Harry Reid but claims her vote for Senate Majority leader is up for grabs. Nunn talks a good game on our military but “defers” to the President when it comes to fixing the mess at the VA. Michelle Nunn claims to be an outsider but her shady land deal with lobbyists proves that she’s not one of us.

State Senator Jason Carter is banking on voters having short-term memory loss. In the State Senate, he voted for three of Governor Deal’s budgets but now complains that education is underfunded. Carter keeps Obamacare at an arm’s length while backing a Medicaid Expansion Plan that’s more expensive than what the president suggests. And Carter claims to be a supporter of charter schools but voted against the Charter School Amendment.

Georgia Democrats know that the only path to victory is one of misinformation and misdirection. If they begin to reveal their support of the president’s big government, big spending, big debt agenda, their political careers will screech to a grinding halt.

But like Senator Johnny Isakson said, “The oldest rule in politics … is you can’t have it both ways. You’ve got to ultimately declare what you’re going to do.”

Georgia voters are waiting. It’s time for Carter, Nunn, and Barrow to choose.
