From Bob Barr Congress:

Barr Opposes “Net Neutrality” Rule

Former Congressman Bob Barr (GA-7, 1995-2003), currently a candidate for Georgia’s 11th District, released the following statement opposing the new “Net Neutrality” Rule adopted today by the FCC:

“The Obama Administration’s multi-pronged attack on the free market  continues with the decision today by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) to put forth formally as a proposed Rule the mis-named “Net Neutrality.”  The Net Neutrality Proposal is actually Orwellian Double Speak for a government mandate that would prohibit ISPs (Internet Service Providers) from offering service or different categories of service to users based on market forces.  It would, in effect, socialize the Internet by forcing ISPs to provide equal service to any available user regardless of charge or willingness to pay.  Today’s action is simply the latest effort by the Obama Administration to manipulate and control market forces to achieve policy or political goals; as it already is doing in the health care arena through ObamaCare, and in the financial services industry with the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau and other components of Dodd-Frank.”
