Fewer Muscogee County School District teachers to lose jobs | Latest News | Columbus Ledger Enquirer

When Muscogee County School District interim superintendent John Phillips first mentioned a reduction in force for the next school term he said that possibly as many as 90 teachers could lose their job.

That number is down to 20 and may shrink even more according to the school district’s chief human resources officer. Kathy Tessin.

Speaking at a Muscogee County School Board work session Monday night, Tessin said, “As of this morning, we’re looking at five middle school teachers, nine high school teachers and six elementary school teachers.”

Tessin then added she is confident that the present number will also shrink.
