DUNWOODY, Ga. (AP) — A former DeKalb County school board member has announced plans to run for state schools superintendent.
Nancy Jester announced her candidacy Monday at a gathering at a park in Dunwoody, just outside of Atlanta.
Jester and five other school board members were suspended by Gov. Nathan Deal after an accreditation agency put the district on probation. He eventually decided to remove the six board members from their positions.
Jester says she brought concerns about the board’s finances and management to the agency that placed the district on probation.
