Ethics: two council members in Forsyth, Georgia indicted

From Macon.com:

U.S. Attorney’s officials say two Forsyth City Councilmen have been charged with bribery in a three-count federal indictment.

Authorities say 60-year-old James Edward Calloway and 35-year-old Desi Hansford presided over a subcommittee that was responsible for receiving bids and selecting a contractor to provide services to the City of Forsyth. United States Attorney Michael Moore says Hansford and Calloway were paid $20,000 from an unidentified company between Dec. 27, 2012 and March 11, 2013 in exchange for influence over city contracting work.

$20,000 paid in exchange for influence? Bah, I’ll be glad when lobbyist spending is limited. That’ll fix these problems, right?
