Thousands of voters have taking advantage of early voting in Bibb and Houston counties in the last two weeks, and Saturday voting this weekend will boost those tallies.

Through Friday, Bibb County had drawn 7,022 early votes out of more than 83,000 registered voters. Daily turnout has ranged from 429 on Oct. 14 to a high of 694 on Friday.

Through mid-afternoon Friday, Houston County had 7,582 combined votes from its three polling places out of 74,801 active registered voters.

Across the state, 335,127 early votes had been cast as of Friday morning, according to the Secretary of State’s Office.

Andy Holland, a Houston County election worker, said officials hope the pace picks up. In 2010, during the last gubernatorial election, Houston had 12,000 people vote early.
