Doug Woodruff’s advantage in HD2?

In 2012, Doug Woodruff ran for District Attorney in the Lookout Mountain Judicial Circuit, which comprises Catoosa, Chattooga, Dade and Walker Counties in the Northwest corner (upper left-hand corner) of Georgia, losing by 42 votes out of nearly 22,000.

Woodruff announced that he will run for State House District 2 in a special election to fill the vacancy created when State Rep. Jay Neal accepted a job with the Department of Corrections. District 2 includes parts of Catoosa, Walker, and Whitfield Counties.

Doug Woodruff announced he will campaign for HD 2,

In 2012, Woodruff carried Catoosa County by a 55-45 margin and narrowly carried Walker County by a 52-48 margin.

Every election is different, and Woodruff’s 2012 campaign didn’t include Whitfield County, but his experience in the District Attorney’s race probably gives him an advantage in the upcoming Special Election.
