Rangers with the Georgia Department of Natural Resources are asking the public for information about what they’re calling a possible poaching incident on Dutch Island over the weekend.
At some time overnight Saturday, an 8-point buck was killed in the area of Merriwether Drive, said Cpl. Chris Moore with the DNR’s Law Enforcement Division. Island security located the deer about 1 a.m. Sunday.
Upon close inspection, it was determined the deer had been healthy and not otherwise injured prior to being killed, Moore said.
