DeltaWing Looks to Build Electric Three-Wheeler in Georgia : Tech/Biz : Auto World News

Sports car manufacturer DeltaWing Technologies is looking to build the first electric cars in Georgia that would cost about $15,000 a pop.

Oh, they would also only have three wheels.

 

Though the cars will be available for purchase, DeltaWing is looking to create a car-sharing service (think Zipcar) exclusively for EVs.

 

Gary Fong, the director of communications with DeltaWing, said he’s not sure when the vehicles will be ready, but the company is aiming to open a manufacturing plant in Georgia sometime in the near future.

 

“We’re really more than a race car company and it makes sense not only for an environmental benefit but also an economic benefit because we believe this would bring more jobs to Georgia and sales of cars like this whether to the city or the private sector would be keeping those funds and net revenue here in the state,” Fong said to Jalopik.

DeltaWing Technologies is run by Motorsports entrepreneur Don Panoz, who makes high-performance sports cars. Back in 2001, Panoz proposed an electric car-sharing program for Georgia, and even had charging stations installed at his offices. Over a decade later it seems like he’s going to get his chance.
