Perdue, Isakson & McCain Discuss Defense and Veterans’ Issues

Republican candidate for U.S. Senate, David Perdue joined Senator Johnny Isakson, Senator John McCain and over 200 veterans at the Marietta chapter of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. Also featured was retired Colonel Lee Ellis, who was in a POW camp with Senator McCain during the Vietnam War.

Speaking on the need for a strong national defense, David Perdue said, “I am in this race because we have a full-blown crisis. The federal government is taking our national security for granted by unilaterally cutting our U.S. military.”

Perdue added that President Obama’s lack of leadership has made the world a more dangerous place: “Whether it’s Putin, ISIS, Iran, Syria, we’ve emboldened our enemies. The President’s confused and inconsistent foreign policy has put our national security in jeopardy.”

Regarding the Senate race, Perdue commented, “Gridlock has one sponsor in Washington and that’s Harry Reid in the U.S. Senate.”

“I’m running to represent the people of Georgia and ensure that we have a Republican Senate Majority where Senator Isakson will be chairman of the Veterans’ Affairs Committee and Senator McCain will be chairman of the Armed Services Committee,” Perdue said.

While Michelle Nunn admitted she would “defer” to the President’s judgment when it comes to veterans’ issues, Perdue highlighted that he would fight for Georgia’s veterans and seek to serve on the Senate Armed Services Committee.
