The chairman of a U.S. House committee that recently held a key vote for the Port of Savannah is scheduled to visit as a guest of Georgia Rep. Jack Kingston.
Kingston, a Savannah Republican, planned a news conference Wednesday at the Georgia Ports Authority headquarters with Rep. Bill Shuster of Pennsylvania.
Shuster is chairman of the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee, which last week approved a bill that would eliminate a bureaucratic hurdle to deepening the shipping channel to the Savannah port.
