Cherokee Tribune – School district exceeds state average on test

Results released Tuesday for a statewide performance test show Cherokee County School District students exceeded the state averages, and public schools in the county continued to improve.

Scores for the Georgia Criterion Referenced Competency Tests are reported as the percentage of students who exceed, meet or do not meet the Georgia Performance Standards in the subjects of reading, English language arts, mathematics, science and social studies.

“In all subject areas, CCSD saw a higher percentage of students to exceed or meet standards than the state,” said Superintendent of Schools Dr. Frank Petruzielo. “The percentage of CCSD students who exceed standards topped the state by an average of 13 points. CCSD grew its percentage of students who exceed standards in 18 of 30 possible categories.”
