Cherokee Tribune – Laughridge 25 announces run

Cartersville businessman Matt Laughridge, 25, visited Canton on Tuesday to announce his plans to run in the Nov. 5 special election to fill the state Senate District 14 seat vacated by Sen. Barry Loudermilk.

“Today begins a campaign that is short in length, but long in its potential impact on the future of this district and the entire state of Georgia,” Laughridge said in a release. “It is time for a new generation of leadership to step forward to the call of public service. Owning and operating several businesses in this area, I understand the conservative principles that should govern our state and will bring those values to the capitol in Atlanta.”

Laughridge is vice president of Terry Reid Automotive and a graduate of Birmingham-Southern College.

A Republican, he also is a Rotarian and treasurer of the Etowah Scholarship Fund.
