Cherokee Tribune – Experts to speak at forum on Affordable Care Act at Northside center

CANTON — A forum on the Affordable Care Act is set for Tuesday after a handful of residents decided there needed to be an open discussion and more information about the act and health care exchange.

Lisa Murad was one of about a half dozen residents who worked on putting the “Straight Talk About the Affordable Care Act” forum together for Tuesday, and she said that the goal is to inform the community so they can make their own decisions.

“The idea for a non-partisan Afford-able Care Act forum for the north Georgia region culminated as a result of the tremendous lack of information about how to access the marketplace exchanges because of the seriously challenged (healthcare.gov) website, the dearth of support at the state level and conflicting information flowing in the media,” Murad said. “We also happen to be a group of friends, concerned citizens, business owners, employees and students, all potentially impacted by the Affordable Care Act law.”

The forum will be at the Northside Hospital-Cherokee Conference Center, at 1130 Bluffs Parkway in Canton.

The first session is from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m., and the second session will be from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.

The forum is free to attend. Experts in the fields of medicine, health care, wellness and business will speak at the forum, and will be available between sessions to answers questions.
