A Cherokee County School Board member was found guilty Saturday night of lying to authorities and filing a false police report, Channel 2 Action News reported.

Kelly Marlow cried after the jury’s verdict was read, the news station said.

Two of Marlow’s associates — Cherokee Republican Party Secretary Barbara Knowles and political adviser Robert John Trim — also were found guilty.

Prosecutors said all three lied about Superintendent Frank Petruzielo trying to hit them with his SUV after a contentious late-night school board meeting June 13.

Marlow, Knowles and Trim could each face several years in prison. Also, under Georgia law, Marlow will be suspended from the school board because of the felony conviction.
