The Carroll County Schools composite score on the SAT increased by 15 points in 2013, according to data released by the Georgia Department of Education.
The cumulative district score on the college entrance exam, taken by 319 of the county’s high schoolers, was 1399 this year, up from last year’s 1384 composite score.
On a school level, large gains were made in each of the three subject areas included in the SAT — critical reading, mathematics and writing — with four of the five schools increasing their overall scores.
Bowdon High, Central High, Mt. Zion High and Villa Rica High all exhibited higher scores, with CHS making the biggest gain, adding 35 points to its overall score. The only county school to not improve its composite SAT score was Temple High, whose score decreased by 22 points.
Associate Superintendent of Teaching and Learning Stan Davis said the central office is pleased with the 15-point increase in the district’s score.
