Bob Barr: The Experience to Fight for Georgia Small Business
Bob Barr will Join the Bi-partisan Small Business Caucus
When he returns to Congress, former Congressman Bob Barr, who for the past 10 years has been a small businessman, plans to join the bipartisan Small Business Caucus which is committed to making Washington work for small business.
“The success of America’s overall economy is tied directly to the success of small business,” said Barr. “Small businesses employ roughly half of all American private sector workers; but right now, the small business community sees Washington working against them rather than for them – creating economic uncertainty, and increasing regulations and taxes. Small businesses need leaders in Washington fighting for them and their employees.”
Barr noted the primary goals of the Caucus include:
Raising awareness of issues that most impact small businesses including access to capital, access to technology, regulation and taxation, and exploring legislative solutions to encourage entrepreneurship and small business growth;
Providing a forum for candid conversation with small business owners to gather recommendations on what issues and priorities Congress should focus on to assist small businesses;
Advancing and promoting small business initiatives that support local commerce and strengthen communities; and
Providing information and education to help Members of Congress arrange job fairs, business roundtables, trade expos and other events in their districts that promote small business growth and encourage job creation.
The Caucus currently is Co-chaired by Congresswoman Chellie Pingree (D-ME) and Scott Tipton (R-CO)
