ATLANTA — H. Lamar Willis, Atlanta City Councilman for Post 3 at large, has been disbarred.

The Supreme Court of Georgia ruled Monday that Willis violated a number of the Georgia Rules of Professional Conduct.

His disbarment comes after the Review Panel of the State Bar of Georgia recommended Willis lose his license to practice law. The panel decided Willis’s claim that depression prevented him from responding to a formal complaint against him was “not credible.”

According to the Supreme Court of Georgia’s opinion, Willis pocketed $30,000 that was supposed to be awarded to a client in a personal injury suit. That was just one of his many conduct violations, according to the opinion.
