The Dougherty County Finance Committee on Tuesday got its first look at a tentative $119 million annual operating budget for Fiscal Year 2014, which begins July 1.
The proposed budget is $3 million higher than the FY 2013 $116 million budget, and includes savings of $1 million from the shuttering of three schools and another $1 million from the closing of the DCSS’s residential mobility hub.
The budget has $29,150,000 in capital projects, including major renovations at Dougherty High School.
The system anticipates spending $77,636,297 on instruction during the upcoming school year.
Two public hearings will be conducted before June 26, when Director of Finance and Operations Ken Dyer plans to present the new spending plan to the School Board for approval.
Dyer added that the system will place the proposed budget on the DCSS website for public perusal, but did not have a date for when it would be available for access and download.
