Adoptable (Official) Georgia Dogs for October 21, 2022

State Senator Burt Jones (R-Butts County) has a new ad about the Adoptable Dog being the Official State Dog of Georgia. From the AJC:

PUPPY AD. GOP state Sen. Burt Jones is getting in on the new Georgia tradition of shamelessly adorable puppy ads in his campaign for lieutenant governor.

U.S. Sen. Raphael Warnock got the trend going in 2020, when he warned voters that the GOP would try to convince them that he was such a bad person, he even hated puppies. Alvin the Beagle, the star of Warnock’s puppy campaign ad, became an overnight sensation and Warnock’s nice-guy image was cemented.

Jones has not one, but a dozen puppies in his ad, including baby beagles. The 30-second spot highlights Jones’ bill that made adoptable puppies the official state dog of Georgia. The bill also went to support animal shelters and foster efforts.

Shorty (above and below) is a 2-year old, 42-pound male Terrier mix who is available for adoption from the Butts County Humane Society, also known as “Butts Mutts.”

Picked up as a stray, Shorty is a low rider, very muscular and handsome, who seems very freindly to humans. We have recently begun to observe some cage agression, toward other high energy male dogs while in his run. Once he is outside his run and being walked, this seems to subside. We woudl not recommend him with younger children due to his strength and he will definitely need a strong leader to fully train him for some better manners! The vet thinks he is around 2yo and he weighs 42lbs. Now neutered and up to date on all his shots, ready to be adopted. Butter is a young male Terrier mix who is available for adoption from the Butts County Humane Society, also known as “Butts Mutts.”

Butters was found roaming as a stray and his finder kindly agreed to foster him. He is housetrained, crate trained and walks well on a leash! Did great with a 6yo child, but he does get the zoomies sometimes so we suggest close supervision with younger kids! Gets along great with the foster’s female dog but will chase cats! Victoria is a precious young brindle shepherd mix pup, brought into our local animal control as a stray dog. She is one of the sweetest gals you’ll ever meet and will need a gentle touch at first due to her timid nature.. we don’t know what happened in her past but want to assure she sees a very bright future with a loving family!
