Shelters across the country are facing higher numbers of owner surrenders and lower adoption rates, according to WSAV.
Coastal Pet Rescue in Savannah is a private dog and cat rescue group. Their founder and director posted on Facebook:
We are in critical need of homes for our pets, some have been waiting since 2022. In an effort to try and get them adopted, I’m asking for help on sponsoring adoption fees. These don’t come near close to matching the actual expenses, but hopefully, will help get these pets the homes they deserve.
Lucky’s adoption fee is $100. Do we have anyone(s) willing to sponsor him?

So, here’s what I’ll do: I’ll match donations to Coastal Pet Rescue by GaPundit readers up to $500 to sponsor some of their dogs. So, you can go to their website and donate $50, then inform me, and I’ll match that $50 and a dog or cat can go to a permanent home. Or donate more or less.
I’ll tell you what else is fun. Go to Coastal Pet Rescue’s Amazon wishlist, and you can choose toys, blankets, or other supplies to have shipped directly to the shelter.
Tom is a sweet guy with a lot of love to give, and the cutest ears ever! He loves to snuggle on the couch with you, sleeps well in the bed (where he would prefer to be), but would sleep fine in a crate, too if he has to.
Tom may be intimidated by larger dogs, but with time and patience, and some steady discipline, he will relax around them, and become curious. He has settled in well with his doggie foster brother and sister, and seems to be very correctable when he decides he wants to show other dogs who’s boss. Usually, just by saying his name, he redirects. Tom is housebroken, and does well in a crate (although he needs a little encouragement to go in).
Tom loves to look out the front door and yell at the squirrels to get off his lawn, and will let you know when someone’s walking by. He’s a vocal pup, so if you’re looking for a church mouse, Tom’s probably not your guy. But if you’re looking for a sweet and fun-loving pup (with ears that will always make you smile), then submit an application to meet him and let’s get Tom into his new home.
Little Bit is a small, senior female Chihuahua mix who is available for adoption from Coastal Pet Rescue in Savannah, GA.
Andy is a sweet boy who wants to play and to be loved. He will join your shadow in following you just about everywhere you go. He is about 3 years old, so there is still some puppy energy that shows itself in periodic zoomies, but most of the time he’s content lounging next to you on the couch. Andy does well in his crate on his own, and sleeps through the night. In a previous foster home, Andy slept all night in the bed, and was a good snuggler. He’s pretty small, so he doesn’t take up much room. Andy does well going outside for potty breaks but enjoys his person being outside with him. Andy walks well on a leash, and, although he will occasionally sing you the song of his people, he’s OK in the car, too. Andy does very well with other dogs, and we think he would do well with children. He’s very gentle. The only thing we’ve found that he doesn’t like is the vacuum.
Luke is a 3 yr old beagle, that loves his people, and does wonderfully with cats and other dogs. He will take some time to get use to the other dogs, but once he knows they are friendly, he loves to play with them. He is not a typical beagle, he barely barks at his fosters home. He is housetrained, crate trained, and is learning to use a dog door.
