Adoptable (Official) Georgia Dogs for June 2, 2025

The Humane Society of Northwest Georgia is cutting adoption fees for some dogs, according to the Dalton Daily Citizen.

“The majority of people who come in here are looking for smaller dogs,” she said. “And they prefer young dogs. It can be hard to adopt older, larger dogs. It’s also harder to get people to adopt black dogs. I don’t know why, but a lot of people are reluctant to take a black dog.” In an attempt to increase interest in some of the dogs that have been in the shelter the longest, the Humane Society has reduced adoption fees for them.

“Our normal fee for dogs is $325 and they are totally vetted, with all their shots and microchipped,” Bell said. “Some of these dogs’ adoption fees have been sponsored and the rest will be about $125 or even less.”

Bell said the reduced fees apply to 10 dogs that have been in the shelter for more than 300 days. A few have been there more than 2,000 days.

“These are good dogs,” she said.
