Adoptable Georgia Dogs for June 27, 2014

Over the last several days, I’ve received several emails from people who ~~drank the Kool-Aid~~ support Barry Loudermilk for Congress, saying, in essence, “it’s a shame that you’re printing nasty stuff about Barry Loudermilk. I feel sorry for the dogs that will die in animal control because of it.”

Real classy.

Seems like these folks have taken to heart Atlanta Mayor Kasim Reed’s dictum, “if you’re going to take hostages, you’d better be ready to shoot the hostages.”

Rhett is a young male Cocker Spaniel who just doesn’t give a damn whether he’s supposed to be on the chair or not.

Rhett has become great with the other 4 dogs in his foster home and has stopped all signs of being possessive with his food. It’s obvious that he can overcome anything. Rhett’s trust has to be earned and his forever home must be patient with him. Time and a kind hearted family is all that Rhett needs to be a wonderfully, happy, balanced dog. He is such a special boy who just wants so badly to be nurtured, loved and cared for.

Scarlett is a young female Boston Terrier mix puppy who is available for adoption from Animal Ark in Columbus, GA.

Ashley is a female American Bulldog mix puppy. She can be shy in a doggie play group but may do okay with another dog in the home so a meet-and-greet will be necessary in determining compatibility. Ashley really loves people and likes to be by your side without being overly needy for attention. Given her touch of shyness, older kids (over age 12) in the home may be more ideal than small children. She responds to some commands and corrections but can use some work in learning not to pull on the leash during walks. If you think you’re the patient and caring person to commit to this girl, spend some time with her.

Tyra (above) is a medium-sized, mixed breed female who is in the Canine Cellmates program at the Fulton County Jail. She’s ready for a new home and needs to find one soon so they can rescue the next class of dogs who help inmates learn responsibility and marketable skills to reduce recidivism.

Below is Taz, a female pit bull mix who is also in the Canine Cellmates program and in need of a new home. She will make a wonderful companion for a family who wants a young, fun dog without the fuss of a puppy. She’s Canine Good Citizen certified and is such a snuggly love bug. She gets along great with dogs and people and deserves a chance for a happy ending. Taz is approximately 2 – 3 years old and is a fun, lively, happy little lady!
