Adoptable Georgia dogs for May 17, 2018

Lula is a year-old, 37-pound mixed breed female who is available for adoption from the Athens-Clarke County Animal Control.

Lula has a note on her information sheet that states, “What a sweetheart!”  I must say I agree!  Lula is such a sweet girl.  She’s very submissive and wants to please.  At times, she wasn’t sure of what I wanted and just plopped down on the ground looking up at me with a big smile wagging her tail.  When I threw toys for her, she chased them, but then didn’t know exactly what to do with them, so once again she was on the ground watching me with the toy beside her.  Lula is darling.  She’s a pretty girl with an unusual coat in which you can see the Catahoula in her.  She’s happy and glad to be with you.  Come meet Lula today.  She’ll be waiting at her gate with a smile and wagging tail.

Lilly is a Cattle Dog mix who is available for adoption from Athens Canine Rescue in Athens, Ga.

She is crate trained and housebroken – she’s very smart and learned both very quickly!

When Lilly meets new dogs, she is very happy to see them and loves to play with her foster siblings! She learned quickly how fun it is to play, wrestle and chase and when her siblings were done, she respected their decisions! Every dog she meets, she absolutely loves and wants to play with so we think she would be a great dog to take to the dog park! She also loves to be outside, so the dog park is the best place to be, in her opinion! She is a little too interested in the cats at her foster home, so she would do best in a home without them.

Lilly is very gentle when she meets new people. She prefers to sniff their hand before they pet her. Once she gets to know you, she will form a really strong bond! She isn’t demanding of attention, but she really likes to show you that she loves you. She loves to lean on you or stand between your legs when she’s outside and inside, she will try to rest her chin on your hand, foot, or any part available! She will stop just about anything if you want to scratch her chin! She has been around a few older kids and has been very gentle with them!

Being a cattle dog mix, she is a medium to high energy dog…she will definitely need a family that wants to take her on walks or runs, and of course, would love to have another dog to wrestle with! Once she’s got her energy out, she is definitely a deep sleeper! She isn’t what we call “hyper” – she just needs some activities and bones to chew on inside. Outside, she entertains herself pretty well!

Bijou is a small, young male Feist mix who is available for adoption from Athens Canine Rescue in Athens, Ga. Wikipedia tells us a “Feist” is “a type of small hunting dog, developed via crossbreeding of various other hunting breeds in the rural southern United States.”
