Adoptable Georgia Dogs for April 26, 2013

The euthanasia list at Clayton County Animal Shelter is so long and tragic that I can’t post any of their dogs this morning for fear of posting ones that have already been put down. So, we’ll start Weimaraner Week a little bit early with two pairs from Atlanta Weimaraner Rescue. First up are Sammy and Grace, a bonded pair of Weimaraners who have lived together since Sammy was a year old and Grace was six months.

They are a lovely pair. They are used to being with other dogs, and started in a family with several young children, which they adored. Sadly, Sam and Grace cannot stay with the family that adopted them a few years ago, due to severe financial difficulties. They are house dogs, well mannered and a delight to have as companions. Please let us know if you might be able and willing to keep Sam and Grace together, and adopt them both. Experienced gun dog owners preferred, thank you.

Next are Zoe and Bella, a bonded pair of females with a story that could have been written by Ernest Hemingway.

This lovely pair has quite a story. Zoe and Bella were born on the island of Abaco. Against island veterinarian’s advice, original owners purposefully bred their Weimaraner and German Shorthair Pointer. Irresponsible owners resulted in The Girls running loose on the island. A Good Samaritan living part time on his boat took an interest, and got them into rescue with us.

Zoe and Bella were adopted first by a great family with three children and were very well cared for, loved a lot! One child developed serious allergies that forced the family to give The Girls back to rescue to be rehomed.

The second and current family has had them for one year, been transferred, now have a much smaller house and a second baby added to the family. They have determined it is not fair to Zoe and Bella to have so little room, nor the attention and exercise they need and deserve.

These sweet girls are fully vetted and almost 6 years old….young enough to still be very active with long life ahead, yet old enough to be able to chill out when you need them to.
