Adoptable Georgia Dogs for April 24, 2013

“Holland” is a Dutch Shephed mix male who is an owner surrender to Clayton County Animal Shelter. He is, of course, looking for a direct adoption, but a rescue has inquired about him, so he’s got a prospect. If you help out today by making an online donation to his freedom fund, any money collected will go to a rescue to help defray the considerable vetting costs that accompany rescue work.

ClaytonHollandIt’s worth noting that owner surrenders are often the best dogs to find placement because they can come with medical records and/or be trained in advance. Unfortunately, they are often the most vulnerable to euthanasia in high-intake shelters. Unlike strays, who have a mandatory waiting period before being euthanized, owner surrenders are available to be euthanized immediately.

If you’re moving or lose your home, please look into alternatives to simply dropping your dog off at “the pound.” Don’t you owe your best friend better treatment than that?

Clayton Chloe“Chloe” is a young female hound dog who is looking for an adoptive or rescue home and is currently incarcerated at Clayton County Animal Shelter. I have a hound dog mix with similar colors, and there is no better temperment than a hound dog. Plus they’re very athletic and make great running companions.

Weim boy in Ringgold AC IMG_0349This young male Weimaraner is on borrowed time at a North Georgia shelter that euthanizes weekly. He’s gotten a reprieve because everyone loves his personality. A volunteer writes, “They have already held him longer than normal, due to his being such a happy fellow, eager to play and get lovin’!” A rescue organization has volunteered to help with the paperwork and vetting, but they need an adoptive or foster home. If you think you might like to adopt or foster this beautiful dog, email me today!
