The Humane Society of Greater Savannah is asking for donations for a new HVAC system, according to the Savannah Morning News.
“The Humane Society for Greater Savannah is desperately in need of donations to keep our shelter pets cool,” said Sean Griffin, Savannah Humane Society CFO. “Our older units can’t keep up with the hot summers and cold winters, so we are installing new HVAC units.”
The organization is hoping to to raise about $31,000 to add three ductless mini-split HVAC systems and three air curtains to its dog kennel areas, replace an air-conditioning unit, install insulation/drywall, and add new air ducts to its laundry room. Current systems have been deteriorated due to age and rodents.
“Thanks to a generous donation of $5,000 from a valued friend of the Humane Society, plus additional contributions, and from our GoFundMe appeal, we have now received $29,502.41 to help cover the cost of installing heating, ventilating and air-conditioning units at our animal campus on Sallie Mood Drive in Savannah.” according to the HSGS GoFundMe page Monday morning. “That is the gross amount. Some $1,600-plus will still be deducted for fees, including transaction fees for the credit card companies.”
