Elimination of city of Savannah’s inventory tax on ballot | savannahnow.com

In addition to selecting a new Savannah-Chatham school board chairman and returning unopposed judges to their seats, Savannah residents will determine the fate of an inventory tax for manufacturers on May 20.

Passage of the Freeport Exemption means up to 100 percent of a company’s qualified inventory could become exempt from property taxes.

The ballot actually contains three questions for voters to consider relating to raw materials, finished goods and items destined to be shipped out of state.
